Spring into Summer 2025 writing challenge
Need a push to finish that writing project gathering dust? Desperate to get back into writing? Keen to find a writing community?
Then register now for our Spring into Summer 2025 writing challenge!
Spring into Summer is our 50-day writing challenge which we’ve designed to motivate and encourage you to achieve a writing goal of your choosing, whether that's finishing 10 poems, writing a book review, hitting 100,000 words in your novel, finishing an essay, planning a short story, editing a manuscripting, or completing your research proposal.
Whatever your writing goal is, there’s room for you in our writing challenge.
Last year, for our inaugural writing challenge, Fall into Winter, over 675,000 words were written by the challenge particpants and 65% of our writers completed their goal which is just amazing.
One sentence written is one more than when it wasn’t, all you need to do is get started.
Register now and join a community of like-minded writers hitting their goals just in time to relax for the summer. Maybe by the autumn (or fall) you’ll be submitting your manuscript, querying your novel, pitching your play, getting peer review on that research proposal, or starting your second draft. Doesn’t that sound great?
As part of the challenge we going to organise a number of dedicated writing events within Edinburgh and host numerous virtual write-ins just for our challenge participants, all you have to do is turn up and write!
We’ve also got some swag from local businesses (more info TBC) for those who hit their writing goal (where they chose the option of pairing up for accountability - read more on our wonderful website.)
This year we’ve also got a wee loyalty card for you, get stamped at 10 of our events and win a small (small) prize! Dedication and small carrots of motivation to get you writing is what we’re all about!
What else can I look forward to?
We’ll have a launch event on the evening of the 21st March, where we’ll come together and set out goal for the challenge. You can meet and be supported by writers in your medium whether that’s other novelists, poets, screenwriters or something else entirely.
We’ll also have a celebratory closing event which we encourage everyone to attend, whether you achieved your goal or not, whether you participated in the challenge or not. We want to celebrate our writers, our stories, our progress, our voices. For our closing event we’ll have a couple of writing sprints, a lunchtime walk and hopefully, a Q+A panel of locally published writers.
So, if challenging yourself to start, or finish, a writing project sounds good to you, or getting invovled with the Women Who Write community sounds appealing then register now and come along to an event.
